ROAD
Australia has a long tradition and strong performance history in road events at an international level. In 2017, 43 Australian riders were selected as members of the UCI World Tour professional teams, which included those in Australia’s first ever professional World Tour team, Orica-GreenEDGE, which debuted in 2012.
Road cycling is dominated by professional teams and competition outcomes are among some of the most variable at World Championship and Olympic Games level due to the National team configuration and smaller team size at Olympics than the Pro are used to.
Cycling Australia's (CA) High Performance Strategy 2020- 2024 recognises this, and as a result, adopted a new approach from 1 January 2018 when existing High Performance Road Athlete Scholarship Agreements conclude.

Road Individual Athlete Support Program
CA supports a finite number of road athletes who have been identified as ‘Podium Potential’ upwards, with individual scholarships; CA also assists other targeted road athletes with securing a trade team contract.
CA is also a strong support of our national road teams, and will continue to provide support at major events such as the UCI World Championships, Commonwealth and Olympics Games.
