Six gold medals are on offer on the opening day of the track competition at the Anna Meares Velodrome and it is a family affair with the team pursuit, team sprint and Tandem events.
Who is racing
The men’s team pursuit will feature dual world champion and Olympic silver medalist Samuel Welsford three-time world champion Leigh Howard, hometown hero Jordan Kerby, 2017 world champions Alexander Porter.
In the women’s team pursuit, a trio of 2015 world champions in Annette Edmondson, Amy Cure and Ashlee Ankudinoff will be joined by debutant Alex Manly.
In the team sprint, Steph Morton and Kaarle McCulloch will line up in the event which returns to Commonwealth Games program.
The men’s sprint trio will feature Matthew Glaetzer, who will be joined by Nathan Hart & Matthew Glaetzer.
The Tandem Para-cycling events will open with 2016 world champions Jessica Gallagher and Pilot Madison Janssen in the sprint, with the men’s Tandem time trial will see Bradley Henderson make his debut with Pilot Thomas Clarke, who won bronze at the 2014 Games.
